A pet rock is the best pet you could ever have! You don’t have to feed it, water it, or remember to let it out every now and then! It won’t even run away! It already knows how to ‘stay” and won’t use the bathroom on the carpet. It won’t run away and you can throw it against a wall if you get angry and it and it won’t get hurt! They don’t cost you a single thing because you can find stray ones everywhere you look! There are no vet bills you have to pay and you don’t have to get its shots up-to-date! if you wash it after rescuing it from the wild, it won’t stink or get dirty easily! Isn’t that great!!! You can design and customize them however you want to! Don’t let living pets hold you back from your daily schedules! Get a rock instead and you won’t have to worry about anything that you would with a living breathing needy pet would!

Sometimes the dress code goes a little too far with what we can and can’t wear. The dress code was changed this year to make it so that we can’t wear polo shirts anymore or even dress up. We even lost the chance to wear jeans on Fridays. These changes were due to the fact that students were taking advantage of these privileges. They have made so that only people with panther pins can dress up anytime and wear jeans on Thursdays and Fridays. If it was only a select few taking advantage of it, why not just let the changes affect them instead of the entire school? Honestly, how hard was it to understand that only solid colored polos with a symbol no bigger than your hand were allowed? It doesn’t make any sense to me. I don’t understand why we have to have a panther pin in order to dress up. What is so wrong with dressing up and looking sharp? The only way I can see people taking advantage of dressing up is the girls, since the guys could only wear a suit and tie. Some girls wore whatever they wanted to, basically, and called it “dressing up.” Instead of taking the privilege away from everyone, why not just point out to the people what is and is not acceptable? There’s a rule in the middle school that limits what belt the students can wear. Honestly, what sense does that make? As long as the belts are doing the job they were meant to do, which is holding their pants up, I don’t see a problem. There’s even a rule on coats and sweatshirts! Seriously? We actually have to buy other coats and sweatshirts that have to be KIPP/college related in order to be able to stay warm in the seemingly below-freezing classrooms. All that does is takes money out of our (parents’) pockets and gives more money to the school. Why does it matter what coats and sweatshirts we wear? We already have them so why can’t we use them? I think that the outrageous dress code needs to be changed so that the clothes we already have aren’t just wasted money, so that the innocent people don’t have to pay for the wrong-doers’ mistakes by being strictly limited on what they can wear, and so that students can show their individuality more freely while remaining mature and professional at the same time.

Which will get you farther in life? I would say that they both help you get where you want to be in life; they go hand-in-hand. While entertainment helps you realize where you want to go, education gives you the tools you need to get where you want to go. For example, while playing a game, you might decide that you would like to be a game designer. You can then use education to guide you where you want to go. Once you figure out what you want to be in life, with the help of entertainment, you can start preparing for your future through your education. You can take all the right classes in high school and college to make sure you have what you need to fulfill your dream. Entertainment is your compass that points you in the right direction and education is the map that helps you get to your destination.

There are many reasons why Duke is better than Carolina. First of all, unlike Carolina, Duke made it to the 2010 NCAA Championship Final Four. Not only that, but they were actually victorious in defeating Butler and winning above all, making them the 2010 NCAA champs. Second of all, they beat Carolina this past Wednesday night by 6 points. Even the Gardner-Webb coach, Rick Scruggs, “probably the most qualified man in America right now to assess the distinction between the ACC’s two reigning superpowers,” says that Duke is a more dangerous team than Carolina. Duke’s coach is more well-known across the country than Carolina’s coach. This must be for a very good reason. Even before I was a Duke fan, I knew Duke’s coach by heart. I don’t even know who Carolina’s coach is to this very day. I don’t care if Michael Jordan, supposedly the greatest American Basketball player was from UNC. What matters is whether UNC is better than Duke right now and right now, from what I have seen, Duke is better than them by far.

Our bodies need water to stay hydrated in order to function properly. Water provides the necessary things we need to stay healthy and hydrated. We need oxygen to breathe and live because our body needs it for our blood and  to carry out respiration so we can have energy. Food is needed in order for us to obtain the energy from the glucose available in it that we need in order to stay alive and healthy. Shelter helps to protect us from the elements and environments not completely suited for human life.
